The Sun is Rising Over California
In 2018, God led Lou Engle and Mando Matthews to call a statewide 40-Day Fast for California's salvation and transformation. During this fast, God gave Mando an open vision of the sun rising over the West Coast and 10 stadiums in 10 cities across California simultaneously filled with Luke 4:18 gatherings. In the vision, Mando knew the number 10:10 not only represented 10 stadiums in 10 cities, it also represented John 10:10, which says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." In the vision, Mando felt Jesus loudly proclaiming, "The destiny of California has been stolen, but I am coming to take California back!" What would happen if California became known for the HOPE of Jesus Christ?
Prayer Tour of Stadiums in CA
In 2019, Mando took his students from the Ekballo Pasadena School of Prayer & Harvest on a 10 day prayer tour of 10 cities in California. This group anointed and rededicated many stadiums in California to the worship of Jesus and for the harvesting of souls. Across America and the world, stadiums are weekly filled with hundreds of thousands of fans, screaming out the names of their favorite stars and idols. What would happen if stadiums were filled again, but with extravagant worship to the Name above all names? Jesus!
Every Stadium Shuttered
This team had connected with leaders across the state believing that 2020 would be the year of the stadiums. Instead the Global pandemic hit in March 2020, and every stadium and mass gathering across the world were completely shuttered.
"From Tents to Stadiums"
In 2021, while at a prayer strike at the site of the historic 1949 Billy Graham tent revival in Los Angeles, Mando felt God inspire him to start the united 10/10 initiative in tents first, and that eventually, it would go "from tents to stadiums." In 2021, Hope California launched it's first initiative in 10 tents across 10 cities of California, culminating on 10/10, 2021. Two additional cities on the West Coast hosted gatherings, including one gathering in Roseburg, Oregon. Over 200 churches were involved across the West Coast and hundreds were saved, baptized, healed and delivered.
Hope Californias Unites with 40 Days of Hope & Baja California
Towards the end of 2021, when praying about when to hold the next Hope California initiative, Mando had a dream that a man came to him and told him "The Lord says to hold the next initiative in 500 days [from 10/10/2021] and once a year." This 500 days from 10/10/2021 fell on 2/22/2023. Mando reached out to Chris Leeper who had been leading the 40 Days of Hope for the last 10 years, a "40 Days to Palm Sunday" initiative, to catalyze the body of Christ to work together in prayer, evangelism, compassion and discipleship every year. When Mando asked Chris if the 40 Days of Hope could possibly start on 2/22/2023, they realized that the dates for both initiatives had aligned, as 2/22 was already the start date for 40 Days of Hope in 2023!
In addition, 40 Days of Hope had been working with hundreds of churches across Baja California for 3-4 years and had seen great unity in Baja California. When the idea was presented to leaders in Baja of the idea of 40 Days of Hope culminating with stadium harvest festivals, multiple cities joined the initiative. For 2023, we have 8 confirmed cities in California and 3 in Baja California who will host the 40 Days of Hope and culminate with harvest gatherings in stadiums and festival venues on Palm Sunday weekend- April 1 & 2, 2023.
